If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911.
Signs of Cardiac Arrest
Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart malfunctions and stops beating on its own. Signs of cardiac arrest include a person’s sudden collapse and passing out; the person doesn’t respond, even if you tap them hard on the shoulders or ask loudly if they’re OK; the person doesn’t move, speak, blink or react; the person has no pulse. If these signs are present, start Hands-Only CPR immediately.
Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke
During extremely hot and humid weather, your body’s ability to cool itself is challenged. When the body heats too rapidly to cool itself properly, or when too much fluid or salt is lost through dehydration or sweating, body temperatures rise. It is important to know the symptoms of extreme heat exposure and the appropriate responses.
